Last DCTYC Event

Hello everyone! Well, we've come to the end of the season and it is time to celebrate a great year with an End of the Year Party. What a great year for the DCTYC...not the Cowboys or the Mavs but the DCTYC had a good year. And hey, if a power-out hadn't kept us from our preview of EAT (It's Not About Food), I would say it was nearly a perfect year for the YC. Hopefully, everyone got a chance to come to the show another time.

Back to the party. I would like to encourage all YC members to come down to the Rosewood Center one more time to hang out with each other before the end of the season. There will be food and drinks and an awesome group of people known as the DCT Youth Council. What could be better than that? Okay maybe a Cowboy or Mav championship along with a party...but what can you do, right?

Anywho...I'll see you all at the theater soon. Bye.

April Meeting

What's up, DCTYC Members? I hope this blog finds everyone well. It's almost time for our April meeting and this month we are going to seeing a preview of the last y.a.r.d. show of the season, EAT (It's Not About Food). This show was written by DCT's Resident Playwright, Linda Daugherty and a few of the actors in the show are members of your very own Youth Council. So, that's kinda awesome.

Also, I hope that everyone also gets a chance to catch the other y.a.r.d. production currently playing at DCT, The Giver. This show also has DCTYC Members in the cast, so there is another reason to see it. And as I always say, as Youth Council Members, you 1 free ticket to each y.a.r.d. production. (Just make sure you tell me ahead of time so I can confirm seating availability.)

So if you haven't already, please RSVP so I know you are coming to the April meeting. I believe that is all for now. I'll see you all at the theater. Go Mavs!

New y.a.r.d. Productions at DCT

Hey DCTYC Members! Happy Spring Break! We just had our week off of classes here at DCT and now it's time to get back to it. I'd like to thank everyone that was able to attend Cafe Beat Spring this month. Everybody that performed did a great job and everyone that watched was a terrific audience. Once again, Andy Long was a terrific host and once again, the improv troupe was extremely funny. Our musical guests, The Slow Burners, seemed to entertain the crowd, and the band members told me how impressed they were by all the teen performers. So once again, Cafe Beat is a great success.

It's a great time of the year for the DCTYC because not only did we have a fantastic Cafe Beat this month, but it is also time for two y.a.r.d. productions to open. The Giver and Eat are the two remaining young adult productions for the season at DCT and they both open soon. I'll be sending out a reminder with production dates soon and remember that as DCTYC members, you 1 free ticket to each y.a.r.d. production. Yay!

That's all for now DCTYC Members. I hope everyone is doing well and hopefully the Mavs will get it together before the playoffs. Let's hope Dirk's ankle and knee heal quickly. Go Mavs!

Spring Cafe Beat

Hello DCTYC Members. It's late February, and that means that it is almost time for Cafe Beat. Cafe Beat is an open mic event with a coffee house style atmosphere in which Youth Council Members and Teen Conservatory students can share their talents. For those of you that were able to attend Cafe Beat in the fall, thank you. And to those of you that were not able to attend, now is your chance. Everyone should be recieving a letter and e-mail very soon.

I am especially excited about this event because we will have a live band. Our musical guest will be a great band called the Slow Burners. Andy Long will emcee Cafe Beat again, and he will bring the Improv Troupe to make us all laugh. So it should be a great time.

That's all I've got for now YC Members. See you soon and let's see how this Jason Kidd trade works out. Go Mavs.

Great Meeting

It's the Monday after our February DCTYC meeting, and I want to thank everyone that participated in the script reading discussion. I was extemely impressed by the opinions expressed by the DCT Youth Council members who spoke up, and I'm looking forward to confidential e-mail opinions.

Our next meeting for the DCTYC is Cafe Beat! So that's kinda awesome. For those of you that don't know, Cafe Beat is an open mic event March 8th, with a coffee house style atmosphere for DCT Youth Council Members and Teen Conservatory students to show off their talents. It should be a good time. I know I had fun at the last Cafe Beat....of course ...I do love coffee. Go Mavs.

Thanks,

Johnny

It's been a while

My apologies, DCTYC members. It's been a while since I have updated this blog. Over this amount of time, a lot has been going on. I know.....you all have missed me.

Since early January, I have taken a trip to Omaha, Nebraska to see my family. It was pretty darn cold. If you enjoy warm weather, I do not recommend Omaha in January. Other than the cold, though, I had a great time.

Immediately after my trip to Omaha, I had my 30th birthday. Yay me! Now that I am officially an old guy, I got a great excuse to have forgotten to update this blog. You know.... old people forget stuff. You buy that? No? Okay, I've just been busy. Plus we had a design and production workshop on the 10th, and we have an upcoming meeting at the beginning of February....that's a good excuse....right?

Okay, okay...I've been distracted...my Cowboys lost, alright!......Why!?!?

.....Whew...okay..I'm better now....so...Go Mavs!

January

Well, DCTYC members, the holidays are over and it's almost time to get back to classes. Which means it's also almost time for January's DCTYC event. This month we will have a Design/ Production workshop to enjoy. So that's kinda awesome.

We will look at Randel Wright's set design for Goodnight Moon, then talk to Matt and Kim Lyle, of Bootstraps Comedy Theater, about producing their own particular form of theater in Dallas. I have personally had the honor of working with Randel, Matt, and Kim; and I think they all are extremely talented, successful artists with a lot to share. I should be pretty sweet.

Anywho....I'll see everyone at the next meeting, and as always, GO MAVS & GO COWBOYS!
